“Greek Freak” Giannis Antetokounmpo voted Best Male Athlete in the U.S. (video)

After winning 2018-19 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo was named on Wednesday Best Male Athlete at the ESPY Awards, ESPN’s annual celebration for all things sports, according to greekreporter.com. He also took home the Best NBA Player award, where he was up against James Harden, Kevin Durant, and Paul George. “This is not going to be like the MV speech,” Antetokounmpo noted as he took the stage Wednesday at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles and accepted the award. “I’m not going to cry today.” The winners are determined by fan voting. The ESPY Awards are considered of equal value to the Oscars or the Grammy Awards for those within the sports industry and to even be nominated for one is a great success for any professional athlete.
