Florence + the Machine ending 2019 world tour with show at Athens Acropolis

Popular English indie rock band Florence + the Machine are ending their successful 2019 world tour with a very special show at the Acropolis on Thursday, September 19, greekcitytimes.com reports. The concert, which will be held at the Greek capital’s historical Herodion Theatre is set to be a sell-out as it’s Florence’s first show in Athens in a decade, and the last of her world-spanning tour behind High As Hope, her critically acclaimed fourth album. “Grecian art and mythology have always played a huge part in my work, so I cannot think of a better place for the final show of this record,” Florence noted in a release. The band is currently wrapping an extensive tour of North America that included plays at Denver’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and headline slots at New York’s Governors Ball and FORM Arcosanti in Arizona. The tour will conclude this weekend with stops in Atlanta, Orlando and Miami. Florence + the Machine formed in London in 2007, consisting of vocalist Florence Welch, keyboardist Isabella Summers, as well as a collaboration of other musicians. Florence’s massively acclaimed fourth album High As Hope was released last year. Most recently Florence debuted their Game of Thrones track “Jenny of Oldstones” which has been streamed over 13 million times to date.
