Athens Benaki Museum Pireos opens its architectural archives to children

The Benaki Museum (Pireos) presents its educational program “Become an Archive-tect!” and opens its architectural archives to children, int.ert.gr reports. Through interactive exploration and research methods, children will get to know the breadth of the museum’s Archaeological Archives, and the different types of architecture and how they relate to the features and requirements of each historical period. Through a game of observation and recording, the kids will attempt to do a visual analysis of the facades of the buildings, inventing their own way of reading architecture, and of course, establishing their own rules. Via the  Surrealist game “cadavre exquis”, children are changing, distorting, experimenting and rebuilding fantastic buildings. The children will also undertake a creative deconstruction of the architecture of familiar buildings, in order to compose a new image combining separate eras and rhythms.
