Employment Committee MEPs and the European Council introduced a new development to further lower the risks for workers exposed to carcinogenic and mutagenic substances. The negotiators agreed on the European Commission proposal to add diesel fumes to the list of harmful substances and to set the exposure limit values for eight additional cancer-causing substances.The new regulation  creates a safer and healthier workplace for more than 12 million workers in the EU, who are potentially exposed to diesel engine exhaust emissions (DEEE). Such exposure increases the possibilities of getting cancer, which is still the primary cause of work-related deaths.
