The Athens and Epidaurus Festival’s Educating Audiences in Ancient Drama program, along with its Dialogues initiative, continue next Monday, March 19, as Kostas Filippoglou is invited to Nafplion’s Vouleftiko for a seminar-workshop.Filippoglou, who is directing the Epidaurus-bound performance of Aristophanes’ The Frogs (playing on August 11) will guide participant’s in the seminar-workshop into his directional approach to Aristophanes’ masterpiece. Participants will have the opportunity either to just watch, or to take part in the experiential part of the seminar, meant to help them explore how to go about such a play in physical, creative manner.The Educating Audiences in Ancient Drama institution, founded by the Athens and Epidaurus Festival, takes place under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, in collaboration with the Theater Studies Department of the Fine Arts School at the University of Peloponnese, with the support of the City of Nafplio. It is under the aegis of the Peloponnese Municipal Department of Education, in cooperation with the Argolida Ephorate of Antiquities.After discussions and workshops in the Athens and Epidaurus Festival’s Educating the Public on Ancient Drama program and Dialogues initiative include Thanos Papakonstantinou on Sophocles’ Electra (April 16); Konstantinos Dellas on Sophocles’ Antigone (May 7); and Martha Frintzila on Aeschylus’ Prometheus Bound (May 21).For 2018, initiatives in Argolida are inspired by the central theme of this year’s Athens and Epidaurus Festival, State and the Citizen.
