  • Keeping it lightweight and oh-so-airy, the Alpinestars SPX Air Carbon Gloves arrive ready to make a statement in 2016. It’s cold now. Just that time of year. But in the coming months the seasons will change, the temperatures will rise, and our hands will get sweaty and gross if we stick with full leathers or our insulated gloves of the fall/winter. That doesn’t have to be the case with the SPX Air Carbon.

Alpinestars SPX Air Carbon <a href=motorcycle gloves" border="0" ://images1.revzilla.com/product_images/0174/9438/alpinestars_spx_air_carbon_gloves_black_yellow_detail.jpg" height="200" title="" width="200Constructed of supple full-grain leather that also incorporates 3D mesh at the top of the hand for superb comfort and airflow, the SPX Air gloves get an additional boost of protection from the Carbon compound injected TPR knuckle protector while still adhering to precise ergonomic specifications. Additional protection can be seen in the energy absorbing EVA foam at the fingers, palm, and thumb as well as the top of the hand and wrist areas. Touch screen compatibility adds to the ride-all-day, warm-weather, no hassle efficiency of the SPX Air Carbon, and they also come in a Women’s version with the Alpinestars Stella SP Air Carbon Gloves.

With warm weather fast approaching, the Alpinestars SPX Air Carbon and Stella Air Carbon gloves afford a streamlined, efficient, highly comfortable and solidly defensed pair of motorcycle gloves in which to move just as fast in the same direction.

Have fun out there, be safe, and as always…

Alpinestars Spring Jackets: Devon & GP Pro

As odd as it may sound, February is a very exciting month for motorcyclists. I’m not talking about Valentine’s day, or the end of a long dark winter; I’m talking about new product launch season, and this time, Alpinestars is joining the party. For 2016, Alpinestars has released the Devon Leather Jacket & the GP Pro. There are plenty of technical details to review, so let’s dive right into the nitty-gritty.

Alpinestars Devon Leather Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Devon Leather Jacket. This is taking the place of the outgoing TZ1 as the my-first-leather-jacket offering. The big changes over the TZ1 are all in the details, with the Devon using Alpinestars’ current generation of Bio Armor in the shoulders and elbows, and incorporating a snap system for a new Nucleon back protector. The Devon also comes with chest armor pockets, a removable thermal liner, and a fully mesh lined interior under that. For comfort, the cuffs and collar are neoprene-lined, and there is a simple mandarin collar with no snaps to dig into your neck on a sport bike. Working from the inside out, the leather used here is a soft 1.1 mm cowhide, with accordion stretch panels at the elbows, and stretch textile on the inside of the arms and shoulders for mobility and flexibility. Alpinestars really toned down the shouty graphics for this jacket, and relaxed the fit for a more American-style, straight-side cut to this jacket. The Devon jacket will also be available in a perf version with the Alpinestars Devon Airflow Jacket.

Alpinestars GP Pro Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars GP Pro Jacket gets a refresh for 2016 after just two years on the market - a pretty short lifespan for a jacket. That said, a lot of jacket innovations came out over the last few years, and the GP Pro makes the best use of this. The biggest safety-conscious change is the introduction of larger leather panels and DFS in the shoulders. Larger leather panels - in this case 1.3 mm thick cowhide too - allow for fewer seams, and Dynamic Friction Shields (DFS) up the protection level even higher by taking existing seams and moving them under hard plastic sliders. This allows Alpinestars to cover the notorious shoulder seam with a slider, making the jacket safer, while still allowing for plenty of range of motion. On that note, the new GP Pro jacket now has stretch material that runs up the inside of the shoulder, and up over the top as well to help in really aggressive riding positions. Comfort wise, the collar and cuffs are lined with a perforated, high-airflow neoprene, and the back of the jacket is lined with a 3D bubble mesh to keep your back dry. There are pockets for Nucleon chest and back armor, and the GP Pro comes with CE armor in the shoulders and elbows. As with the Devon Airflow, the Alpinestars GP Pro Airflow Jacket is also available for riders who are in search of a bit more ventilation.

All in all, we’re happy to see what Alpinestars has done with their leather jackets moving into 2016. With additions such as the Devon and the Alpinestars Devon Airflow Jacket, the Astars lineup is looking more robust than ever!

Alpinestars Classic Style: Brera & Oscar Charlie Jackets

An evening out on the town, dinner at a fancy restaurant, bar hopping with your friends.  These are all practical applications for showing up on your bike looking as cool as you feel.  The new Alpinestars Brera Airflow Leather Jacket and Oscar Charlie Leather Jacket are perfect for the rider looking for decent protection without sacrificing fashionable styling.

Alpinestars Brera Leather Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Brera Leather Jacket would make a great addition to any GQ models riding arsenal.  The 1.1mm Calf Skin leather is soft and elegant and the fact that Alpinestars has foregone intense styling in favor of low key embossed logos on the shoulders really allows the jacket to show off it’s beauty.  The CE Certified Bio Armor and pre-curved sleeves make the jacket very comfortable in any riding position and gussets at the shoulder, back, and elbow give the user plenty of mobility.  The Brera has no problem fending off cool weather, but when the temperature really starts to rise you could opt to select the fully perforated Alpinestars Brera Airflow Jacket.  Black and Tobacco Brown are your color options so pick your poison wisely and ride into the night.

    Alpinestars Brera Leather Jacket Review

Alpinestars Charlie Leather Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Charlie Leather Jacket is great for the rider looking for the traditional Cafe Racer styling in the form of a high quality leather jacket.  The white race stripes add a flare factor to the full grain 1.0-1.1mm leather used throughout the entire chassis.  The interior flannel liner vest adds a nice touch for the cool late night weather, you’ll have no problem staying warm while looking cool.  Not for lack of protection, this jacket is more than just a style piece and includes CE Certified Bio Light armor in the shoulder and elbows which is in line with the rest of the Alpinestars Oscar collection of apparel.  Functionality is key, the small shoulder gussets and slightly elongated arms make the Charlie Jacket a comfortable leather for all of your riding needs.  Throw in an Alpinestars Nucleon Back Protector and you will have a jacket that not only looks great, but keeps you protected.

Alpinestars Oscar Charlie Leather Jacket Review

The Alpinestars Brera and Charlie leather jackets are fully functional as a riding jackets and have no problem making the wearer look highly fashionable.  The high quality leathers used throughout are soft to the touch, but have no problem warding off abrasion in the case of a fall.

    Alpinestars Gloves: SMX-1 Air & SP-Air

If you're a motorcyclist who resides anywhere that experiences miserable winters, you are probably chomping at the bit to get back and ride. It is only a matter of time until the temperatures rise so you might as well look into some of the new hot weather gloves from Alpinestars. The SMX-1 Air gloves and SP-Air gloves are hot new gloves to keep you cool.
    Alpinestars SMX-1 Air <a href=motorcycle gloves" border="0" ://images0.revzilla.com/product_images/0174/5070/alpinestars_glove_smx1_air_detail.jpg" height="200" title="" width="200
The Alpinestars SMX-1 Air Gloves use full grain leather in the palms for abrasion resistance. Mesh panels flow air to keep your hands from getting to sweaty in the summer heat. Carbon knuckles backed by EVA foam absorb energy from slamming into the pavement. You can stop your search for a short cuff leather and mesh glove. The SMX-1 Air is for the rider who doesn't want to bother with a hot gauntlet, but who still wants some protection.

The Alpinestars SP-Air Gloves split the difference between a full leather gauntlet and a mesh summer glove. The full grain leather helps to keep your digits intact while the mesh panels on the back of the glove vent to keep your hands cool. The bridged ring and pinky help prevent finger separation and contortion common with lowsiding. This summer sport gauntlet gives you more coverage without overheating.

    Alpinestars SP-Air Gloves Review:

You won't have to day dream about riding too much longer. Punxsatawney Phil said only a few more weeks of winter so start checking out the new hot weather gear from Alpinestars. The Alpinestars SMX-1 Air and the SP-Air gloves should be at the top of your list.

Alpinestars Santa Fe Air & Amok Air Jackets: Anywhere, Anytime Quality

Working on a budget, but want one quality jacket to do pretty much everything?  Normally I would say something sarcastic and tell you it doesn’t exist. But Alpinestars just made me put my foot in my mouth.  With both the Amok Air and Santa Fe Air Drystar jackets, you can have your cake and eat it too.  Not only that, you can look like a cross-country touring rider or a rad sportbiker, it’s up to you!

Alpinestars Santa fe Air Drystar Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Santa Fe Air Jacket is a touring styled ¾ jacket with large mesh panels for airflow, and handy waterproof and thermal liners underneath for comfort and protection from the rain.  An internal waterproof pocket can protect any particularly valuable valuables you have on your person.  With multiple fit and volume adjusters, finding the proper fit with your liners in or out won’t be a problem.  Bio Air CE certified armor will make sure your bones don’t get to know the asphalt very well, and optional chest and back armor will keep you safe there as well.  And if you’re a thirsty bugger, there’s an opening on the back of the jacket for a hydration pouch to travel through.  Last but not least, the obligatory cargo pockets on the front round the Santa Fe Air out and solidify its adventure touring reputation.

Alpinestars Amok Air Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Amok Air Jacket has the same Bio Air CE armor in the shoulder and elbows, with a chest and back protector optional.

    Alpinestars Amok Air Jacket Review:

The Europeans haven’t always been on top of the game when it comes to multi season touring.  If you ride all day everyday and wanted something high quality, your only choice was to spend upwards of $1500 for a fancy Nordic jumpsuit.  Now, your favorite Italians have come up with a solution that won’t completely destroy your bank account.  It looks damn good, too!

Alpinestars Core Jacket: An Ace From the Sleeve

Spring is almost here. While the riding season here in the United States has been unusually long due to the lack of snow (at least in the North East), Alpinestars still had enough time to pull this Ace out of their sleeve. For those of us, who do not appreciate looking like a blight that is the neon festered Times Square, Alpinestars has developed the Core leather jackets.

Alpinestarss Core Leather Motorcycle JacketAlpinestars Core Jacket will be the dark horse in this season’s line up. It almost brings tears to my eyes to finally see Alpinestars’ style and taste maturing. The Core jackets will officially mark the end of your days listening and fist pumping to trashy dance music while slamming down Jager-bombs. They will mark the beginning of the “new” you. The new you that appreciates going to sleep at 10 pm and the tonal complexity of Jean Michel Jarre’s music.
The Core jackets will feature minimal Alpinestars logos and clean styling that will make all the post quarter life crisis riders excited. The jackets will feature Dynamic Friction Shield which will manifest itself in a form of a dual density sliders on the shoulders. The jacket will come with removable Bio- Armor in the shoulders and the elbow. Without a doubt, you will have the ability to also put in the appropriate Alpinestars back protector and chest inserts if protection is your game. In terms of abrasion resistance, the 1.1mm cowhide leather will minimize any chances of you pulverizing any 401k savings that you may have to fund costly skin grafts.

    Alpinestars Core Jacket Review:

To increase the comfort while in the aggressive riding position, the Core jackets will feature stretch accordion panels on sleeves and in the back. Additionally, both versions of the jackets will feature multi panel liner as well as 3D mesh to maximize ventilation. The Alpinestars Core jacket will also have a fully perforated version known as the Alpinestars Core Airflow Jacket for those of you who have the privilege of living in warmer climates.

For those of us, who are past our beer-pong days, the Alpinestars Core jackets will keep us protected while still looking sharp to impress the opposite gender. Sometimes less is more.

Stay classy friends and get off my lawn!

  • A streamlined, powerful, purpose-built power-kitten of the jungle. That is the jaguar. The name itself is only associated with the best. It signifies a cutting focus and commitment to standing at the apex of the proverbial food chain. The professional football team aside, the jaguar conjures up images of a winner. Whether it’s in relation to the killer cat, or the world-famous rocker, the new Astars pants by the same name will definitely make their place in the mix.

Alpinestars Jagg Airflow Motorcycle PantsAlpinestars Jagg Airflow Pants are constructed of highly-durable full-grain leather that utilizes multi-panel design to combine great abrasion resistance with on-bike mobility and comfort. To augment the comfort even further, the Jagg Airflow pants have been crafted with extensive and strategically-placed perforation that moves a ton of air throughout. This airflow comes in extremely handy for riders who put in long days and hard work at the track throughout the warmer months of the year. As the Jagg pants are meant to be worn by riders who are pushing the envelope, they are also equipped with removable CE-approved internal protectors at the knee and shin. Additionally, for the lady riders out there, the Alpinestars Stella Jagg Airflow Pants provide a better fitment for women.

With a name like the Jagg, a lot is expected of the newest leather motorcycle pants from Alpinestars. And they deliver.

  • I don’t know about you guys but when I put on a leather suit in preparation to ride on two wheels I know it is going to be a good day. I also feel dangerously invincible when I am robed in beautiful leathers. For those of you out there who have not yet felt the sensation of dragging your knee on the tarmac around a corner at 70+ mph you really need to add it to the bucket list. I am sure there are quite a few of us out there who have dragged our knee on the ground but it was as we were falling off of our bikes! That is certainly not something I would recommend adding to the bucket list but it happens to the best of us. For those two wheeled knee draggers out there I am here to chat with you about the new Alpinestars GP Pro Tech Air Race Suit.
