NIOSH Seeks Nominations for Hearing Loss Prevention Award

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) has opened its application process for the 2020 Safe-in-Sound Excellence in Hearing Loss Prevention Award. Safe-in-Sound Awards are given in collaboration with the National Hearing Conservation Association and the Council on Accreditation of Hearing Conservationists. The awards honor those who have contributed to the prevention of noise-induced hearing loss and tinnitus through effective practices or innovations directed to those who are exposed to noise at work. Awards are granted in two categories: Excellence – recognizes employers that go out of their way to ensure safety of employees’ hearing by implementing exemplary hearing loss prevention, and Innovation – recognizes individuals or organizations for their dedication to fostering, creating and implementing new and unique evidence-based advances in the prevention of hearing loss and creating innovative solutions to real workplace hearing loss prevention challenges. Nominations will be accepted until July 15. For more information and to apply, visit www.safeinsound.us. NIOSH recommends removing hazardous noise from the workplace whenever possible and implementing an effective hearing loss prevention program in those situations where dangerous noise exposures have not yet been controlled or eliminated.
