Travel Gear Shines Bright at CES 2019

The annual Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas is where to go to find out where the next lifestyle disruptions will be, what the next cool must-haves will look like and whether there really is a future for driverless vehicles and Google Glass. Things that appear this year will be gone by next year and then reappear under a different brand with slightly altered technology the year after that. It is the future – almost – and all in one place. Creativity is on parade at CES and the crowds push in. New at CES2019 is a category called Tourism – where companies like Carnival come to announce new tech, such as the Medallion that keeps passengers connected to ship offerings during their cruise. However, most of the new technology for travelers is hidden in the crowded aisles and booths, stuck behind suddenly awake robots and new 8k television screens. Travel Pulse scoured the show that saw 180,000 verified geeks flooding 2.9 million square feet of exhibit space for three days to discern benefits among 4,500 newfangled gadgets. Within this ocean of stuff, most of which will never see the inside of an Amazon order, a few sparkled and showed potential luster for travelers who want to make their trip that much more comfortable. Here is a curated vision of what CES had in mind this year for those on the road, whether for business or pleasure.
