Visit Lapland's Icehotel Before it Melts

You have 12 weeks to visit a unique hotel before it’s gone, and that’s because it’ll soon melt away.Lapland’s yearly Icehotel is open again and features temporary ice art from a total of 34 artists from 13 countries. This year's hotel is called Icehotel #29, to represent the 29th year anniversary.MORE Hotel & Resort Set in Jukkasjarvi, Sweden, Icehotel #29 is a hotel made of 2,500 tons of ice and snow from the Torne River.The main building is made of ‘snice’ (snow and ice) and covers about 30,000 cubic meters of the floors, ceiling, and walls. There is even an ice crystal chandelier crafted from 1,000 crystals.The suites are particularly lovely and each has their own theme. The Living Ocean Suite was designed by a father-daughter duo and depicts an underwater world negatively affected by climate change and overfishing.The Spruce Woods has a vintage VW camper and a fire made of ice and the Lollipop suite is an icy version of a sweet shop.It took about nine months to build Icehotel #29.
