The Grand Canyon’s Polar Express Train Filling Up Before the Holidays

The holidays might not be on the minds of many, but they are approaching fast, meaning it's the time of year when travel experts are encouraging travelers to make travel plans soon.At the Grand Canyon Railway, it looks like the popular Polar Express is going to reach maximum capacity—and soon. The journey brings to life the pages of Chris Van Allsburg’s classic children’s book with visits from chefs offering hot chocolate and chocolate-chip cookies. There’s caroling as well and the highlight, of course, is the arrival of Santa Claus himself.Tickets have been on sale since April and they are going fast. The Polar Express will run on select dates from November 9, 2018, through January 5, 2019, departing the Railway’s historic depot in Williams, Arizona, traveling to the North Pole at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.Tickets are $43 for adults and $33 for children, Sunday through Thursday. Friday and Saturday train rides cost $55 for adults and $45 for children, and The Christmas Eve Limited is $79 for adults and $59 for kids.Guests can also take the holiday experience up a notch with the Polar Express Package at the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel. Overnight accommodations and tickets on the Polar Express are included as well as breakfast and dinner at the Grand Canyon Depot Cafe.
