Here's How You Can Have An Immersive Boeing 747 Experience

United Airlines is celebrating its now-retired fleet of iconic Boeing 747 aircraft by offering MileagePlus members the chance to spend the weekend of June 1-3 with the Queen of the Skies.The MileagePlus Exclusives event packages are up for auction and members can bid miles to travel to Mississippi for a private tour of Universal Asset Management Aircraft Disassembly Center, which is the current home to a number of retired United 747 aircraft.The Boeing 747 tour will culminate with a champagne toast in the first-class cabin of N118UA, followed by dinner under the aircraft, which operated United’s final 747 revenue flight last year. MORE Airlines & Airports MileagePlus Exclusives is offering only five packages for the event, including two packages available to bid on by all MileagePlus members, two packages are reserved for bids from MileagePlus Premier members and one package for United MileagePlus Cardmembers.“Through MileagePlus Exclusives, we aim to offer our members access to unique experiences that money can't buy, and there's no better example of that then getting up close with the 747 in a setting not typically experienced by the public,” MileagePlus Holdings president Luc Bondar said in a statement. “We're thrilled to be able to offer this uniquely United chance of a lifetime to aviation and engineering enthusiasts.”The MileagePlus Exclusives event packages include roundtrip United Economy domestic airfare for two people to Memphis, a two-night hotel accommodation at a Marriott hotel property and a tour of UAM's hangar and aircraft disassembly center.In addition, the tour will feature access for two to UAM's Global Distribution Center, a champagne toast in the first-class cabin of a United 747, a complimentary dinner outside with the Queen of the Skies and a roundtrip shuttle bus transportation from Memphis to Tupelo.MileagePlus members will also have an opportunity to own a piece of three United 747s by bidding in July on parts of this historic aircraft fleet, including tail numbers, windows and more.
