Sonoma Celebrates the Great Outdoors in May

Go beyond the wine and celebrate the diversity of Sonoma, California's natural landscapes in May.The destination will launch its inaugural Outdoor Recreation Month, and it will highlight the breadth of activities it has to offer, including hiking, zip lining, redwood groves, coastal kayaking and exploring beaches, mountains, lakes, forests, and fields.“May has been designated as Sonoma County Outdoor Recreation Month and this is a wonderful introduction to the diversity Sonoma County has to offer,” said Birgitt Vaughan, public relations manager of Sonoma County Tourism.“Beyond our wonderful parks, our outdoor activities also include vineyards tours, fishing, horseback riding, golf, Luther Burbank Experiment Farm, Safari West, Sonoma Raceway experiences, indoor and outdoor rock climbing, hot air balloon rides and much more,” Vaughan added.MORE Destination & TourismTravelers can take advantage of a variety of deals created to entice visitors to head to the region in the month of May. Several of the county's wineries are encouraging guests to get outside by offering strolls of the property, sensory tours, and picnic spots.New activities have also been announced such as horseback riding on six new trails at The Ranch at Lake Sonoma; Audubon Canyon Ranch's new 3,000-acre sanctuary, the Modini Mayacamas Preserves; and the new Windsor Bike 'n Brew Tour from Ace It! Bike Tours.Sonoma County is also promoting its amazing parks, including the Armstrong Redwoods State Reserve, Jack London State Park, Fort Ross State Historic Park, Sonoma Coast State Park and more.While in town, visitors can also stop in for a ride on the new Napa Valley Tequila Train. The new journey will, appropriately, debut on May 5, Cinco de Mayo.
