QR Code Link to This Post 1978 mercedes 300d. It has been sitting for the past ten years and will need a battery, muffler and fuel lines drained and the glow plugs addressed to get back on the road. Good compression in all of the cylinders.I was converting it to parallel style glow plugs but did not have all the necessary grounds in the kit I purchased and kept blowing the fuse. It underwent a restore in the mid nineties, and I purchased the car from my uncle. Ran great for my uncle and when I first bought it but the exhaust fell off on a trip home from Iowa City. We replaced the muffler with a cherry bomb and it became increasingly hard to start. I started with converting the series style pencil glow plugs to the more modern parallel style pen. Likely had more to do with the back pressure from not having a stock muffler possibly tripping some sensor, but it fell to the back burner and I have come to terms that someone else can give it a better home than me.Great interior, my uncle had just put on brand new tires before I bought it. Several manuals and other miscellaneous items go with it. 218k miles but handles like a new car. 5cyl diesel, auto trans.$900 or possible trades or partial trades - motorcycle, dirt bike, quad, pit bike, car trailer, enclosed trailer, instruments, cameras (preferably canon or leica), or let me know what you have.
