Apple Leisure Group CEO Says Company Is Focused on Growth

Alex Zozaya, Apple Leisure Group CEO, addressed Tianguis attendees in Mazatlan, Mexico, and discussed the growth of the company as well as the coming merger with the Mark Travel Corporation.Zozaya assured participants that the merger was not a cost-saving measure but one focused on growth.“We want travel agents to grow with us,” he noted. “The travel agent will continue to be our most important ally, and we want to enhance this relationship.”Zozaya also said that one of the most important enhancements to come out of the merger will be improvements to its technology platform through ownership of Trisept Solutions, which will provide one platform for hotels and distribution.“We expect to close end of may beginning of June,” said Zozaya. “When the merger closes, you will have all of the brands of Mark Travel and of Apple Leisure Group in one platform. This will enhance services and efficiencies.”MORE Hotel & ResortFour new AMResorts properties in Mexico were also announced at the event.John Hutchinson, president ALG, spoke about the new properties and AMResorts’ growth, noting there are currently 52 resorts with almost 20,000 rooms in six countries and that 7,000 rooms have been added in just the last two years.AMResorts will welcome Now Natura Riviera Cancun in 2019 in Puerto Morelos, Mexico, with more than 500 rooms.Secrets Punta de Mita and Dreams Punta de Mita will both open in 2020. The Secrets resort will have approximately 200 rooms and Dreams will have more 400.Secrets Marina Resort and Spa will open in the Riviera Maya with more than 400 rooms in 2020.
