Playa Hotels & Resorts Announces Sales Executive Shakeup

Playa Hotels & Resorts announced Friday the company has promoted Howard Tanenbaum to senior vice president of global sales.Playa is the leading owner and operator of all-inclusive resorts in Mexico and the Caribbean, and Tanenbaum’s promotion comes at a time of rapid growth for the company, which recently acquired five properties in Montego Bay, Jamaica.As the senior vice president of global sales, Tanenbaum will be responsible for all leisure travel, meetings and incentives, tour operator sales-related functions and the expansion of the sales and leisurely travel divisions.“It’s a pleasure to recognize Howard’s contributions to Playa Hotels & Resorts during these four formative years of our company’s successful evolution,” Playa Hotels & Resorts chief marketing officer Kevin Froemming said in a statement. “Howard has played a monumental role in developing critical relationships and is seen as a key sales liaison for Playa and the Hyatt sales organization.”Tanenbaum will also oversee sales through travel agents, including OTAs, tour operators, and Canadian sales efforts. The 30-year industry veteran joined Playa in 2014 as global director of group and retail sales and quickly advanced to the role of vice president.Since joining the company, Tanenbaum established a new call/contact center to handle Playa’s leisure groups and built an inside sales support group to support MICE and field sales. In addition, he also collaborated with resorts sales operations to develop the strategy and execution for Playa’s romance travel and destination wedding sales.
