TAP Air Portugal Continues to Break Records

TAP Air Portugal broke more company records in February.The airline carried more than 1 million passengers last month, the first time it has hit that particular milestone in February. The airline flew 1,042,019 passengers, up 150,000 or 17 percent, over the same period last year.MORE Airlines & AirportsFebruary was also the airline’s best ever load factor and the 12th consecutive month in which the airline carried more than 1 million travelers, marking a year of unprecedented growth for TAP. More than 80 percent of the available seats were occupied by passengers last month, an increase of 1.3 percent over the same period last year.When it comes to TAP’s long-haul routes, North America showed the most growth. Passenger numbers were up almost 26 percent to 52,000, which is an increase of 11,000 from last year. Routes to and from Brazil were also growing. Growth was just over 28 percent, an increase of 16,000 travelers.For the first time in February, TAP transported more than 20,000 passengers between Lisbon and Faro, more than 40,000 between Lisbon and Funchal and more than 10,000 between the capital and Ponta Delgada.TAP Cargo also increased performance. It carried 6,400 tonnes of cargo and mail, representing a 15 increase in the volumes recorded during February 2017.TAP currently operates approximately 2,500 weekly flights using a fleet of 63 modern Airbus aircraft. TAP Express is the airline’s regional arm and operates an additional 17 aircraft.
