Frontier Denies Terrifying Turbulence on Vegas Flight

(photo via Flickr/Tomas Del Coro)A Frontier Airlines flight from Las Vegas to Cleveland was dubbed the "flight from hell" by one passenger after making an emergency landing in Salt Lake City Sunday night.According to KLAS, the flight departed McCarran International Airport while Vegas was experiencing wind gusts as strong as 60 mph.Passengers said the plane began shaking violently after takeoff, prompting at least two medical emergencies."There was a girl six-months pregnant and all the stress caused her to have quite an emergency. We're really hoping and praying she didn't have a miscarriage," passenger Bethany Bitt told KLAS.Several nurses and a doctor aboard the flight also leaped into action when another passenger was thought to be having a seizure."She was seizing. I started calling out actions, telling people to move—I need this, I need that. And two other nurses came and a doctor came and we got her stable," said passenger and nurse Nyeesha Brown.Medical personnel boarded the plane upon landing in Utah.Passenger Bryan Evans gave his unsettling account from a seat near the wing."I was over the wing. Just watching the wing shake and shutter and feeling the haul," he said. The plane was on the ground for 90 minutes before departing and continuing on to Cleveland," a spokesperson said. Some requested medical attention while others were simply too rattled to continue.TravelPulse Executive Editor Michael Schottey was on an American Airlines flight inbound to Las Vegas later Sunday night which was diverted to Phoenix because of wind gusts. American pilots in this situation decided the Vegas winds were too powerful and refueled while waiting for the weather to clear. Even with winds dying down to a fraction of what they were earlier, the approach to Vegas was still a choppy and frightening event, according to SchotteyFrontier's decision to operate the flight as scheduled may have been influenced by recent fines levied against the airline.
