I prefer it over the paddle boards sold today as it has a retractable center board. When the centerboard is lowered, it gives more standing stability, helps tracking while traveling crosswind, and can retract fully or partway for speed and efficiency. It is a little narrower than the standard paddle board. This creates less drag but still great flotation for more speed and efficiency. I use a double paddle From my Kayak instead of a standard single paddle. This board can move quickly if you want. If you want to travel long distance, get to a destination faster, get to safely in a storm, or gusty wind conditions, you won't do it standing on any board. Standing is fun, great view, and definitely a blast. Just the least efficient way to travel. You can also workout more muscle groups by using a double paddle in different positions.
