This is a detachable backrest which will require you to get the mounting docks if your bike does not already have them. I had the bike for 2 years and I kept in in imaculate condition, but when I traded for my Street Glide, the salesman told me to remove anything before the trade, so I kept the backrest. There is not a scratch, a mark of any kind, rust or a mark on the pad section.
