Australia NICNAS Calls for Information on Chemicals in the AICS Trade Name Annex

by Lily Hou, PhD, CHMMThe Australian National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS) is requesting information for chemical products listed on the Trade Name Annex (TNA) section of the Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances (AICS). The requested information includes CAS number, chemical name, and molecular formula of each industrial chemical constituent of the products. The TNA of AICS contains trade names of 2526 products whose composition information was not provided by companies when the AICS was compiled. In order to launch the inventory without inclusion of the individual ingredients for these products, NICNAS created and published the TNA as part of AICS in 1992.NICNAS intends to remove the TNA from AICS by soliciting chemical composition information from industry. After the submission is closed, NICNAS will remove the trade name products, and their constituents not on the AICS may be included.Australian companies or individuals may submit the TNA Product Details Lodgement Form on-line, or by e-mail ([email protected]) or mail (AICS Manager NICNAS GPO Box 58 Sydney NSW 2001). The deadline for the submission is March 9, 2018.References:Request for information about products in the Trade Name Annex of the Australian Inventory of Chemical Substances, Chemical Gazette, March 2017: https://www.nicnas.gov.au/news-and-events/chemical-gazette/numbers/2017/no.-c-03,-07-march-2017/Request-for-information-about-products-in-the-Trade-Name-Annex-of-the-Australian-Inventory-of-Chemical-SubstancesTNA Product Details Lodgement Form: https://www.nicnas.gov.au/have-your-say/current-consultations/aics-trade-name-annex-lodgement-online-form#os
