UK parliament on lockdown following terror attack

A number of pedestrians have been injured after a car was driven onto the pavement outside the Houses of Parliament in London. One of the injured is believed to have died.According to reports, the driver then left the Hyundai SUV and attacked a police office on guard at the Palace of Westminster. One police officer is believed to have been stabbed, in what police are calling a terrorist incident. According to commons leader David Lidington, the attacker was then shot by police. Witnesses report hearing three or four shots.Reports suggest the attacker has now been transported under guard to hospital. Staff inside parliament were told to stay inside their offices.A planned evacuation of parliament has been halted after a suspicious package was located in a vehicle. The bomb squad had been called.
