“Ένα υπέροχο Σαββατοκύριακο με κάτι το οποίο λατρεύουμε να κάνουμε. Να ψάχνουμε”
Αυτό έγραψε πριν λίγες μέρες η Εσμεράλντα, η οποία πριν δύο και κάτι χρόνια υιοθέτησε τη Λόβι, μια απλή, κοινή σκυλίτσα για κάποιους... Διότι για κάποιους άλλους, κάπου αλλού η Λόβι είναι ένα ιδιαίτερο πλάσμα με ειδικές και σημαντικές ικανότητες τις οποίες ασκεί και εξασκεί για καλό σκοπό. Αναζητά και βρίσκει χαμένους ανθρώπους, πράγμα το οποίο είναι συγκλονιστικό αν αναλογιστεί κάποιος ότι έφυγε από την Ελλάδα φοβική, καθόλου κοινωνική και το χειρότερο... ανεπιθύμητη.
Παρακολούθησαν ένα ακόμη σεμινάριο το Σαββατοκύριακο που μας πέρασε .
Την πρώτη ημέρα βρήκε έναν χαμένο άνθρωπο ακολουθώντας το “μονοπάτι της μυρωδιάς του”. Μετά από αρκετή ξεκούραση καθώς είναι εξαντλητικό για ένα σκύλο αυτό, έμαθε πως αναζητά κάποια μανιτάρια που υπάρχουν στα δάση εκεί έτσι ώστε αν κάποιος χαθεί μέσα στο δάσος θα μπορεί να τον οδηγήσει σε τροφή!
Τη δεύτερη ημέρα αναζήτησε τραυματισμένους ανθρώπους πάλι μέσα στο δάσος. Την πρώτη φορά έψαξε και γύρισε για να ειδοποιήσει που είναι το θύμα. Τη δεύτερη φορά, έχοντας περισσότερη αυτοπεποίθηση, περίμενε δίπλα του μέχρι να πάει η χειρίστριά της.
“Κάποτε ήταν ένα σκυλί που χρειαζόταν σωτηρία, σήμερα είναι ένα σκυλί που μπορεί να σώσει ανθρώπους χρησιμοποιώντας τη μύτη της, επειδή κάποιος της έδωσε την ευκαιρία. Λατρεύει αυτό που κάνει και είναι πολύ ευτυχισμένη. Μερικές φορές αγχώνεται αν υπάρχουν πολλά σκυλιά και πολλοί άνθρωποι αλλά έχει μια “δουλειά” να κάνει για την οποία έχει εκπαιδευτεί χωρίς πίεση και βία, αλλά απλά χρησιμοποιώντας τη φύση της. Παράλληλα ανέπτυξε μεγάλη αυτοπεποίθηση. Το ίδιο και εγώ.”

I’m looking back at a wonderful weekend of searching en tracing with my dog Lovie. It’s the only thing Lovie and I want to do
The first day we started with mantrailing; the dog has to find a missing person and the handler has to read the dog well to be sure you're following the right trail. Lovie is trained as mantraildog and in the beginning she was a little bit shy because she has to find a person she never met, but she grew into the trail and of course she found the missing person! After a long break (trailing and searching takes a lot from the dog) we did detection work. She learned to search for the smell of cep (kind of mushroom) and she did great! If we get lost in the woods Lovie can find us something to eat!
Day 2 we started with bloodtracking. You learn the dog to search for a wild animal when it has had an accident. Lovie was very interested and so happy when she found her reward at the end of the trail! It was a small bone. Then we try out how good of a rescuedog she is! The victim was hiding in the woods and Lovie has to show me were the victim was. Being trained as a mantraildog it was easy, but now she was of leash and at first she came for me to show me were the victim was, but later one she was confident enough to wait with the victim. She did so well! I’m so proud of her.
Once she was a dog who needed to be saved; now she can rescue a human by using her nose and giving her the opportunity to do so! She was so happy and relaxed. Sometimes she gets overwhelmed when there are a lot of dogs and people, but now she has a job and she's trained without pressure and force, letting her using her natural impulses. She developed a lot of confidence. And so did I.
