Many believed that the Golden Dawn’s voter base would deflate as quickly as it rose from 0.29% in 2009 to almost 7% in 2012. Many Greeks voted for Golden Dawn in 2012 as an act of protest against a corrupted political status quo that brought the country to its knees. Although this assumption may still hold for a small part of its electoral base, it is now obvious that a core of conscious supporters of national socialist ideology is here to stay."
