Η φωτιά εντοπίζεται ανάμεσα σε οικισμούς και συγκεκριμένα ανάμεσα από το Νέο Καρλόβασι, τον ‘Αγιο Ηλία, τα Κοντακαίικα και τις Βρύσες, ενώ μέχρι στιγμής έχει καεί ένα σπίτι. [embedded content] Στο σημείο, σύμφωνα με το samosvoice.gr έχουν σπεύσει όλες οι επίγειες δυνάμεις, 22 οχήματα της πυροσβεστικής και εθελοντικά πυροσβεστικά οχήματα από όλο το νησί καθώς και 60 πυροσβέστες και εθελοντές. Οι άνεμοι που πνέουν στην περιοχή είναι ιδιαίτερα ισχυροί με αποτέλεσμα να γίνεται ακόμα πιο δύσκολο το έργο της κατάσβεσης. Πριν σκοτεινιάσει θα επιχειρήσουν δύο πυροσβεστικά αεροπλάνα τύπου καναντέρ που φτάνουν στο νησί.
