Delphi AHEPA Chapter 25 held its monthly meeting on March 18. Continuing its presentation series of topical interest, Dr. Konstantinos Drosatos gave a presentation and provided an update on their work. Brother Drosatos, is an Associate Professor in Pharmacology at the Metabolic Biology Laboratory of the Lewis Katz School of Medicine at Temple University. In the past he has served as the President of the Advisory Board of the World Hellenic Biomedical Association. The Chapter has worked closely with him over the last several years and has provided scholarships to students attending the summer school program held in Mani, Laconia, Greece. Due to COVID-19, last summer’s program was cancelled, and the Chapter looks forward to it reopening this summer, as restrictions are lifted.   As an unexpected addition, attending the meeting was Brother Eleftherios Sikalidis from Athens, Greece. The Chapter has several brothers who are living there and continue to be part of the Chapter and add a great perspective from Greece. Brother Sikalidis provided a current view of the situation on the ground that was very informative. In addition to normal business updates during the meeting, the Chapter reviewed upcoming events for the celebration of the 200th Anniversary of the Hellenic Revolution, and urged their brothers to attend as the venue and restrictions provide. With some restrictions being loosened, they discussed plans to have an initiation ceremony in May for all their brothers who have not been initiated since last year. They discussed the challenges of fundraising and to this end, they are planning a small gathering during May to come together as a Chapter, and take the opportunity to raise funds to continue the Chapter’s philanthropic work and support in our community. With the Good Lord’s help and continued relief from the COVID challenges, Brother Argyris Argitakos provided an overview of the Sail to Freedom event scheduled for June 6. This will be an opportunity to support our pride for the celebration of the 200th year anniversary but also look toward this event to raise funds for the good works of the Chapter. As we entered the Lenten journey, the Chapter offered a prayer for the protection of all.
