The Natural History Museum of Meteora and Mushroom Museum has added three new awards to its prize collection. Earlier this year, it received two prizes at the Tourism Awards 2020: Silver Award for the Museum’s mushroom and truffle product range and Bronze Award in the Tourist Attractions category, int.ert.gr reports. The museum has now won a Gold Taste Award for 2020 for its mushroom products, from the Best Greek Food Awards (BGFA ). This prize is the result of the collection and processing of reviews during a 100-day period, from people who have tried the products, which are listed by search engines such as Google, TripAdvisor, Foursquare, AskFood, social media, etc. The former two awards came from the globe’s largest travel site, TripAdvisor. The museum opened its doors in 2014 in Kalabaka, very close to the city of Trikala, in Thessaly, and since then has attracted the interest of a big number of Greek and foreign visitors as well as international media and it features approximately 350 species of animals and 250 species of mushrooms. Animals and mushrooms are presented in dioramas, which accurately depict the natural terrain where they live and grow. The exhibits are presented in thematic sections according to the type of ecosystem to which they belong. The Truffle hunt it organizes, which is followed by a tasting session, and its high-quality mushroom products the visitors can buy at its shop, make it one of the most interesting museums in Greece.
