«Στη ΝΔ κοιτάμε μπροστά, στις νέες ευκαιρίες που έχει μπροστά της η Θεσσαλονίκη», τόνισε ο υποψήφιος βουλευτής στην Α’ περιφέρεια της πόλης με τη Νέα Δημοκρατία και πρώην υπουργός, Δημήτρης Σταμάτης, σε συνέντευξη του στη Free Sunday. «Και έχουμε σχέδιο, το οποίο ο Κυριάκος Μητσοτάκης παρουσίασε στην πρόσφατη ομιλία του στο Export Summit του ΣΕΒΕ, για την ανάπτυξη της Θεσσαλονίκης και της Μακεδονίας», πρόσθεσε.
Ο κ. Σταμάτης εξήγησε πως υπάρχει μια σειρά προκλήσεων που εάν αξιοποιηθούν σωστά μπορούν να αποτελέσουν αναπτυξιακό πυλώνα, όπως το θέμα της ανάπλασης της ΔΕΘ και του παραλιακού μετώπου.
«Θα δημιουργήσουν νέες θέσεις εργασίας και θα προσελκύσουν επενδύσεις. Στο πλαίσιο αυτό πρέπει επίσης να αξιοποιηθούν ευκαιρίες που αφορούν τα ενεργειακά δίκτυα ενώ νέες συνθήκες ανάπτυξης δημιουργεί και η παραχώρηση του Λιμανιού, οι επενδύσεις που θα ακολουθήσουν», επισήμανε χαρακτηριστικά.
«Πρόκειται για πολιτικές επιλογές της ΝΔ που ο ΣΥΡΙΖΑ κάποτε πολεμούσε κυριολεκτικά στα κάγκελα», τόνισε ο κ. Σταμάτης.
Και πρόσθεσε: «Το πρόγραμμά μας περιλαμβάνει επίσης αξιοποίηση των πανεπιστημίων και σύνδεση με τις ερευνητικές δομές που υπάρχουν στη Θεσσαλονίκη. Περιλαμβάνει τη σύνδεση Έδεσσας και Γιαννιτσών με τη Θεσσαλονίκη, την αναβάθμιση του οδικού δικτύου Μουδανιά-Νικήτη, τη νέα χάραξη της σιδηροδρομικής γραμμής Θεσσαλονίκη-Καβάλα-Ξάνθη κ.ά.».
Κληθείς να σχολιάσει την υπόθεση Novartis, είπε: «Εντέλει, αυτό που το Μαξίμου και ο ΣΥΡΙΖΑ χαρακτήριζαν ως "το μεγαλύτερο σκάνδαλο από συστάσεως του ελληνικού κράτους" αποδεικνύεται "η μεγαλύτερη πολιτική σκευωρία από συστάσεως του ελληνικού κράτους". Όποιος, όμως, σκάβει τον λάκκο του άλλου, πέφτει ο ίδιος μέσα».
«Η Νέα Δημοκρατία δεν θα αφήσει έτσι τους σκευωρούς. Δεν είναι θέμα ρεβανσισμού, αλλά θέμα Δικαιοσύνης, Διαφάνειας και Δημοκρατίας», τόνισε χαρακτηριστικά.

Σε πολύ χαμηλά επίπεδα κινήθηκε η συμμετοχή των ψηφοφόρων στις σημερινές (σ.σ. Κυριακή) δημοτικές εκλογές της Αλβανίας. Παρότι, μέχρι στιγμής, δεν υπάρχουν επίσημα στοιχεία, πηγές από το στρατόπεδο της αντιπολίτευσης, η οποία απείχε από την εκλογική διαδικασία, διαμηνύουν ότι η συμμετοχή κυμάνθηκε γύρω στο 15%. Κατά τη διάρκεια της ψηφοφορίας, σημειώθηκαν ορισμένα μικρο-επεισόδια, τα οποία ωστόσο δεν προκάλεσαν ιδιαίτερα προβλήματα στην όλη διαδικασία. Ο πρωθυπουργός της χώρας, Έντι Ράμα, ωστόσο, διαμήνυσε ότι οι εκλογές θα πραγματοποιηθούν κανονικά στις 30 Ιουνίου, πράγμα το οποίο και έγινε. Μάλιστα, το κεντροαριστερό κυβερνών κόμμα εκκίνησε τις διαδικασίες για την αποπομπή του Μέτα από το προεδρικό αξίωμα. Σε κάθε περίπτωση, το γεγονός ότι με βάση τα επίσημα στοιχεία, στις κάλπες προσήλθαν περίπου 600.000 από τους συνολικά 3.500.000 εγγεγραμμένους ψηφοφόρους, φαίνεται ότι δικαιώνει την αντιπολίτευση. Στελέχη της κυβερνώντος κόμματος, βέβαια, διακηρύσσουν ότι αποτελεί νίκη για την κυβέρνηση μόνο και μόνο το γεγονός ότι στήθηκαν οι κάλπες.
