Βαρουφάκης: Η Τρόικα είναι ο καλύτερος φίλος των φοροφυγάδων

Δυστυχώς, η πλειονότητα στο Eurogroup δεν ήθελε μια έντιμη συμφωνία με την ελληνική κυβέρνηση που έπρεπε να ταπεινωθεί ή να ανατραπεί, τονίζει ο πρώην υπουργός Οικονομικών Γιάννης Βαρουφάκης, σε εκτενή συνέντευξή του στην αυστριακή εφημερίδα «Βίνερ Τσάιτουνγ», στην οποία, μεταξύ άλλων, καταγγέλλει την «τρόικα» ως τον καλύτερο φίλο των φοροφυγάδων, αναφέρεται στα δικά του λάθη και ανακοινώνει ότι συγγράφει «μανιφέστο» έχοντας κατά νου μια Ευρωπαϊκή Συνταγματική Συνέλευση.

Το μεγαλύτερο λάθος του, όπως παρατηρεί, ήταν ότι πίστεψε πως όταν πολιτικοί και γραφειοκράτες συμφωνούν προφορικά σε κάτι το τηρούν, όπως επίσης λάθος του ήταν ότι δεν δημοσιοποιούσε αμέσως τις προτάσεις του για την επίλυση της κρίσης, ώστε να μην μπορεί να ισχυριστεί κανείς πως δεν είχε προτάσεις, καθώς υπήρχε ένα πολύ εξειδικευμένο σχέδιο μεταρρυθμίσεων που αφορούσε κυρίως τη χρηματοδότηση, το οποίο όμως ποτέ δεν συζητήθηκε.

Προσθέτει δε, πως, ενώ η ελληνική πλευρά κατέβαλε προσπάθειες για έναν διάλογο, στις Βρυξέλλες ακουγόταν ότι αυτή δεν έχει κανένα σχέδιο, και δυστυχώς η πλειονότητα του Eurogroup δεν ήθελε να κάνει μία έντιμη συμφωνία με αυτήν την ελληνική κυβέρνηση, που έπρεπε να ταπεινωθεί ή να ανατραπεί.

Ως αιτία της παραίτησής του αναφέρει πως ο ίδιος δεν μπορούσε να συναινέσει σε μια συμφωνία «Φάουστ» και δεν ήθελε να προδώσει το λαό του, ενώ αισθανόταν απογοητευμένος, ωστόσο, κατά την άποψή του, οι πολιτικές διαφορές απόψεων δεν θα πρέπει να καταστρέφουν τους προσωπικούς δεσμούς, διότι, όταν μια πολιτική αντιπαράθεση μετατρέπεται σε εχθρότητα, χάνεται ένα μέρος του ανθρωπισμού.

Ο πρώην υπουργός Οικονομικών - ο οποίος την ερχόμενη εβδομάδα πρόκειται να δώσει διάλεξη στη Βιέννη στο γνωστό «Φόρουμ Μπρούνο Κράισκι για τον Διεθνή Διάλογο» (που φέρει το όνομα του ιστορικού καγκελάριου της Αυστρίας Μπρούνο Κράισκι) - αναφερόμενος στη φοροδιαφυγή, παρατηρεί πως μετά την παραίτησή του η τρόικα διέλυσε αμέσως την «ομάδα δράσης» που ο ίδιος είχε συστήσει για την καταπολέμηση της φοροδιαφυγής, και σημειώνει ότι «η τρόικα είναι ο καλύτερος φίλος των φοροφυγάδων».

Σε άλλο σημείο της συνέντευξής του, σημειώνει ότι κανείς δεν θα πρέπει να εξισώνει την Ευρωζώνη με την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, η οποία ήταν ένα υπέροχο εγχείρημα ειρήνης, ενώ το ευρώ είναι το αντίθετο, γιατί σχεδιάστηκε τόσο άσχημα, οδηγώντας σε αντιπαράθεση των ευρωπαϊκών χωρών και καταστρέφοντας τις επιτυχίες της ΕΕ, χωρίς ποτέ να έχει ελεγχθεί από κάποια δημοκρατικά εκλεγμένη κυβέρνηση, παρά μόνον από τις Βρυξέλλες, όπου υπάρχει μεν ένα Κοινοβούλιο, αλλά μόνον κατ΄ όνομα και όχι στην πραγματικότητα.

Κατά την άποψή του, αποτελεί μοναδικότητα στον κόσμο το ό, τι υπάρχει μια Ευρωπαϊκή Κεντρική Τράπεζα που δεν έχει πίσω της κάποια κυβέρνηση, όπως επίσης υπάρχουν κυβερνήσεις χωρίς δική τους κεντρική τράπεζα, και θα πρέπει πλέον να υπάρχουν νομίσματα που θα είναι εργαλεία για την κοινή ευημερία και όχι για την κατάργηση της δημοκρατίας.

Ο ίδιος συγγράφει αυτή τη στιγμή ένα «μανιφέστο» με άλλους συνοδοιπόρους από Γαλλία, Γερμανία, Ισπανία, αλλά και με το «αριστερο-σοσιαλδημοκρατικό Φόρουμ Μπρούνο Κράισκι» που θα το δημοσιοποιήσουν πριν από τα Χριστούγεννα και οι οποίοι έχουν κατά νου μια Ευρωπαϊκή Συνταγματική Συνέλευση, καθώς, όπως σημειώνει, μόνον μια πανευρωπαϊκή δημοκρατική συμμαχία των πολιτών - οι οποίοι μπορεί να ανήκουν σε διαφορετικά κόμματα - μπορεί να δημιουργήσει μια βάση για να ριζώσουν μεταρρυθμίσεις, μια επιστροφή στο εθνικό κράτος δεν αποτελεί πλέον επιλογή.

Σε σχέση με την προσφυγική κρίση, ο Έλληνας πρώην υπουργός Οικονομικών θεωρεί ότι οι πρόσφυγες δεν διαβρώνουν έναν πολιτισμό, τουναντίον τον ενισχύουν όπως μπορεί κανείς να διδαχθεί από τους Αμερικανούς, αποτελούν επίσης μια ευκαιρία, ενώ συνιστά γελοιότητα η ιδέα δημιουργίας ενός «οχυρού-Ευρώπη» για την παρεμπόδιση ερχομού των ανθρώπων και εάν η Ευρώπη δεν κατορθώσει να δει τα πράγματα από την προοπτική των εταίρων της, ακόμη και σε εποχές σοβαρών διενέξεων, είναι καταδικασμένη να καταποντιστεί.

Χειροπέδες για κλοπές στην Κόρινθο

Εξιχνιάστηκαν από την ασφάλεια Κορίνθου, οκτώ περιπτώσεις κλοπών σε σπίτια κι ένα αυτοκίνητο, στην Κόρινθο και για τις υποθέσεις αυτές, συνελήφθησαν στα Εξαμίλια Κορινθίας, ένας 35χρονος κι ένας 41χρονος, σε βάρος των οποίων σχηματίστηκε δικογραφία για διακεκριμένες περιπτώσεις κλοπών και εκβίαση.

Επιπλέον, η δικογραφία που σχηματίσθηκε, περιλαμβάνει ακόμη έναν 42χρονο, που κατηγορείται για αποδοχή και διάθεση προϊόντων εγκλήματος και ο οποίος αναζητείται.

Ειδικότερα, στα Εξαμίλια Κορινθίας, ο 35χρονος και ο 41χρονος, εξανάγκασαν με εκβιαστικό τρόπο έναν κάτοικο της περιοχής, να τους παραδώσει χρηματικό ποσό, προκειμένου να παραλάβει μέρος από αντικείμενα αλουμινίου, που είχαν αφαιρέσει την περασμένη Τετάρτη 28 Οκτωβρίου από το σπίτι του, στα Εξαμίλια Κορινθίας.

Μετά από οργανωμένη αστυνομική επιχείρηση, αστυνομικοί της ασφάλειας Κορίνθου, εντόπισαν τον 41χρονο και τον 35χρονο στα Εξαμίλια και τους συνέλαβαν.

Ακολούθως, στο πλαίσιο της αστυνομικής έρευνας που διεξήχθη, εξακριβώθηκε ότι οι ανωτέρω, κατά το χρονικό διάστημα από 11 Σεπτεμβρίου έως και την 29 Οκτωβρίου, στην Κόρινθο και στα Εξαμίλια Κορινθίας, είχαν διαπράξει ακόμη, μία κλοπή αυτοκινήτου, καθώς και έξι κλοπές σε σπίτια, από όπου είχαν αφαιρέσει συνολικά, αντικείμενα αλουμίνιου και άλλα μεταλλικά αντικείμενα, ένα φορητό ηλεκτρονικό υπολογιστή, δέκα γαλοπούλες και είδη διατροφής.

Όπως ακόμη προέκυψε, οι ανωτέρω συλληφθέντες προμήθευαν τον 42χρονο που αναζητείται, με τα αφαιρεθέντα αντικείμενα αλουμινίου και τα άλλα μεταλλικά αντικείμενα, έναντι χρηματικού ανταλλάγματος.

Η αστυνομική έρευνα και το προανακριτικό έργο, συνεχίζονται από το Τμήμα Ασφαλείας Κορίνθου, για την εξακρίβωση της τυχόν συμμετοχής τους σε διάπραξη παρόμοιων αδικημάτων.

«Είκοσι πέντε παιδιά σκοτώθηκαν στην συντριβή του αεροσκάφους» επισήμανε ο εκπρόσωπος κατά τη διάρκεια μιας ενημέρωσης στην Αγία Πετρούπολη.

Στο μεταξύ οι πρώτες σοροί των θυμάτων αναμένεται να επαναπατριστούν αύριο, γνωστοποίησε ο Ρώσος αξιωματούχος.

«Το πρώτο αεροσκάφος αναμένεται αύριο… Κάθε αεροσκάφος μπορεί να μεταφέρει έως και 80 σορούς» προσέθεσε ο ίδιος.

HAUNTED HILLARY: FBI INQUIRY LOOMS

Hillary Clinton appears to have overcome an investigation of her role in the 2012 deadly attacks in Benghazi, Libya, but she still faces a months-long FBI inquiry into the handling of sensitive information while she was secretary of state.

The FBI’s Counterintelligence Division, which opened its review this summer after classified information was found in emails transmitted over Clinton’s private email server, is under pressure to act quickly, as Clinton is in the midst of running for the Democratic nomination for president in 2016.

 

Attorneys who have handled classified information cases say the bureau, initially asked to examine whether Clinton’s arrangement compromised national security secrets, ultimately will have to consider whether she and her aides failed to sufficiently safeguard sensitive information.

They disagree about whether there’s enough evidence to prosecute her or her aides for sending and receiving government messages over the personal email system. routed through a private computer server in the basement of her New York home.

But most who spoke to McClatchy say it’s unlikely the former first lady, senator and Cabinet secretary will face charges because of her high profile and the hurdle to prove she knew the emails contained classified information when she sent them to others.

“She’s too big to jail,” said national security attorney Edward MacMahon Jr., who represented former CIA employee Jeffrey Sterling in 2011 in a leak case that led to an espionage prosecution and 3½-year prison term. He cited a pattern of light punishments for top government officials who have mishandled classified information while lower level whistleblowers such as Sterling have faced harsh prosecutions for revealing sensitive information to expose waste, fraud or abuse in government.

At least 671 emails that Clinton sent or received through her private server contained classified material, according to the State Department’s latest update Friday from its ongoing review of more than 30,000 emails. Her aides also sent and received classified information.

In response to a public records lawsuit, the department released another 7,200 pages of Clinton’s emails after partially or entirely redacting any containing sensitive U.S. or foreign government information on a range of issues.

The inspectors general of the State Department and intelligence community have said that some contained classified information when they were generated, but they were not marked that way at the time.

Most of the classified emails are at the “confidential” level – the lowest level of classification – but if additional emails are determined to be the more sensitive “secret” or highly sensitive “top secret” levels, it would raise the gravity of a potential security breach.

Peter Zeidenberg, a former federal prosecutor who handles cases against local, state and federal officials, including Vice President Dick Cheney’s chief of staff, Scooter Libby, for leaking the covert identity of CIA officer Valerie Plame, said Clinton’s actions may have been foolish but not necessarily illegal.

“If the emails were not marked, it would not be possible – at least not in my view – to establish that Ms. Clinton knowingly mishandled classified information,” he said. “How was she to know that this was classified if it was not marked?”

Still, experts say that if Clinton aides pasted classified information into emails to her without including markings signaling the material was classified they could face felony charges.

Clinton’s campaign declined to comment for this story. Clinton initially said she did not send or receive any classified information – a denial she later adjusted, saying that none was marked as classified at the time.

After months of dwindling poll numbers, Clinton is savoring a strong couple of weeks on the campaign trail after standout performances at the first debate and at an 11-hour grilling about Benghazi on Capitol Hill, as well as a decision by Vice President Joe Biden not to challenge her.

Still, a federal investigation can’t be good for a presidential campaign, particularly if it stretches into a general election when Clinton would be trying to woo more skeptical Republicans and independents.

“As long as you have an FBI investigation, it’s a question mark,” said Ann Selzer, the leading pollster in the crucial early nominating state of Iowa.

Brad Coker, managing director at Mason-Dixon Polling & Research in Jacksonville, Fla., predicts Clinton will win the nomination over her chief rival, Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, unless she is criminally charged.

FBI officials have declined to say whether the inquiry has expanded into the actions of her or her aides. Clinton’s campaign has acknowledged she turned over to the FBI the server and thumb drives holding more than 30,000 emails.

In recent congressional testimony, FBI Director James Comey confirmed his agency is looking into the issue but declined to discuss details of the investigation besides saying he has the “resources and personnel” he needs for the inquiry.

Comey, a Republican, would approve any initial recommendation for a prosecution, but it would be left to Attorney General Loretta Lynch, a Democrat, to decide whether to proceed.

Legal experts say investigators could be looking into potential violations of Section 1924 of Title 18, which deals with the unauthorized removal and retention of classified documents or material, or even the Espionage Act, which makes it a crime for anyone “through gross negligence,” to allow the loss, theft or removal of classified information or fails to promptly report such mishandling to his superior.

The pressure to act against Clinton could build if the FBI determines that her official emails were hacked by a foreign power such as Russia or China.

Even then, Clinton’s lawyers might be able to ward off a prosecution by demonstrating “that she was so stupid and so busy that she didn’t have any idea what was going on” with regard to her emails, said Joseph DiGenova, an outspoken former Republican U.S. attorney for the District of Columbia.

DiGenova dismissed Clinton’s contention that the email was not marked as classified, emphasizing that a top agency official has a duty to recognize and protect classified information.

MacMahon said that if a lower-level government employee “cooked up their own home server” and received emails containing classified information, “they would have already been arrested.”

But Leslie McAdoo Gordon, a Washington lawyer who has represented people charged with mishandling classified information over the last decade, said it’s very difficult to prove Clinton knew certain emails were classified and intentionally sent them.

“It’s very hard for the government to prove what they have to prove to get a conviction,” McAdoo Gordon said.

The remarks are the first time Trump has reacted to Obama's decision to deploy fewer than 50 Special Operations forces to Syria, which the White House announced Friday. "The fact is, our strategy in Syria hasn't changed," White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Friday. "The core of our military strategy inside of Syria is to build up the capacity of local forces. To take the fight to ISIL on the ground in their own country ... This is an intensification of a strategy that the President announced more than a year ago."

Trump spoke briefly with CNN on Saturday as he arrived at a campaign rally in Norfolk, Virginia, where his podium is stationed in front of the USS Wisconsin.

Trump, along with other 2016 GOP contenders, has been highly critical of Obama's handling of the war against ISIS.

Trump has said that he would deploy American troops back to Iraq to combat ISIS but has argued against deepening U.S. involvement in Syria.

Instead, Trump has said that he would be in favor of allowing Russian President Vladimir Putin to continue his bombing campaign in the country, which has been met with objection by Washington, which believes Putin is trying to bolster the Syrian regime rather than attacking ISIS.

Trump also told CNN he would end super PACs if he became president.

"Super PACs should not be allowed. Super PACs should not be allowed," he said. "It is absolutely a disgrace what's happening with super PACs and they should not be allowed. They're a disgrace and they're horrible for this country and it should be ended."

Trump earlier this month called on other candidates to disavow their super PACs, days after a super PAC supporting his candidacy shut down amid Trump's rejection of the group.
