Greek metallurgy firm becomes Aluminium Stewardship Initiative member

Mytilineos Group announced that its Metallurgy Business Unit has joined the Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) as a Production and Transformation member, ANA reports. According to the announcement on Thursday, ASI is a global, multi-stakeholder, non-profit standards-setting and certification organization, that has developed an independent certification program to ensure that the principles of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Governance, and Human Rights are increasingly integrated into the production, use, and recycling of aluminum. Major global aluminum/ alumina producers, such as Rio Tinto, Alcoa Hydrο and Rusal, have joined this initiative, with a commitment to maximizing the contribution of aluminum to a sustainable society. The ASI standards set out principles and criteria relating to society, the environment and governance in order to ensure compliance with the sustainability commitments of the aluminum value chain.
