Niketown SoHo goes Greek to honour of NBA’s MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo

Nike Soho New York has transformed its store into a Grecian monument in honor of NBA’s MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo’s “rise to legend” and his own Nike signature shoe, the Zoom Freak 1, greekcitytimes.com reports. The famous footwear store had hosted a launch event in July calling it “Coming to America” the Greek Freak’s favourite movie, but also quite fitting representing his journey to professional basketball stardom. Giannis and his brothers took part in the launch, signed basketballs, handed out Greek food to Nike+ members and fans, and chatted with young hopefuls sharing the same basketball dreams as the ‘AntetokounBros‘. The Greek Freak’s “Coming to America” inspired signature shoe comes from his personal connection to the story and according to Nike, the Zoom Freak 1 is “embellished with animal print and rich gold accents to mimic the grab worn by Prince Akeem upon his formal entrance to the United States”. Local Greek-American New Yorker Matheos Sprague had visited the store and noted “I’m blown away by Niketown Soho, they designed the entire store in modern and whimsical Hellenic style for Greek NBA star Antetokounmpo. Complete with Greek diner and coffee shop!” RELATED TOPICS: Greece, Greek tourism news, Tourism in Greece, Greek islands, Hotels in Greece, Travel to Greece, Greek destinations, Greek travel market, Greek tourism statistics, Greek tourism report Photo Source: Wikimedia Commons License: CC-BY-SA Copyright: Keith Allison Let's block ads!
