Greece’s unique guitar-shaped islet Agia Triada loved by the Beatles

Agia Triada (Saint Trinity) is a small islet just opposite Evia‘s town of Eretria, in central Greece, and its natural beauty, along with its history, make it one of Greece’s most intriguing places, according to greekreporter.com The islet is right off the coast of Eretria and it can be reached from there within minutes, while the Greek capital of Athens is no more than a one-hour drive away. Its peculiar shape, which resembles a guitar, similar to the shape of Cyprus, along with its ideal location and the breathtaking natural beauty which surrounds it, once made it a strong contender when the legendary music group The Beatles wanted to purchase an island. Reportedly, the Fab Four simply wished to enjoy some bohemian moments in privacy while simultaneously receive musical inspiration from its idyllic surroundings. The sales deal was never reached, nevertheless, and the islet of Agia Triada remains intact — and as stunning as ever. The islet’s unusual, elongated shape, which also reminds visitors of the Little Dipper constellation, provides seemingly endless stretches of pink-tinged sand to lucky sun worshippers and swimmers. Its pristine beaches, turquoise waters and lush natural vegetation make it an ideal destination for any tourist.
