Baggage handlers and check-in staff employed by GH London Ground Handling Services at Luton Airport have voted for strike action. The decision was taken in response to the company’s decision to impose a pay freeze on staff. A week-long strike will commence on Sunday, March 3rd at 18:00, the Unite union said. Some 96 per cent of the workers that took part in the ballot voted in favour of strike action. Figures on turn out were not revealed by Unite. GH London (formerly known as Azzurra Ground Handling) provides ground-handling services to Wizz Air at Luton Airport. Wizz Air is a low-cost airline serving mainly central and eastern Europe with around 42 routes from Luton. Unite has about 40 members, including cabin crew and maintenance staff, working for the East Midlands Airport-based airline.
