Institute for Alternative Policies holds in Athens event on dangers of climate change

What is global warming? What are its consequences and what would be a modern way of responding to them? Is it possible for sustainable development to foster “ climatic justice” and cure the symptoms of global warming? These are some of the questions approached by scientists attending the event “ Climate change and new data: prevention, management, intervention,” held by the Institute of Alternative Policies, ANA reports. Professor of Dynamic Tectonic, Applied Geology and Disaster Management at the National Kapodistrian University of Athens Efthymis Lekkas announced that in recent years the recorded number of natural disasters has risen dramatically and he referred to the need for better planning.  “ A 0.1 rise in temperature increases by fivefoldthe risk of fire. Every fire increases by 20 times the risk of flooding,” Lekkas pointed out, and went on to invoke a vicious circle in which human intervention and the process of global warming dramatically multiply the intensity of natural phenomena.  RELATED TOPICS: Greece, Greek tourism news, Tourism in Greece, Greek islands, Hotels in Greece, Travel to Greece, Greek destinations , Greek travel market, Greek tourism statistics, Greek tourism report Photo Source: pixabay.com
