QR Code Link to This Post A rare chance to own this vintage and original flat-twin cylinder "airhead" BMW, which just has been returned to running condition for the first time since the 1990s. First year of the 750cc "slash 6" model. Has the combination of both kick-start and electric start. This stock motorcycle recently was serviced after having been previously placed in dry storage in 1998 by the earlier owner. It starts, idles, shifts through the gears, and stops reliably. Lights and signals work. Odometer shows only 21,973 miles. Handsome earlier edition of the /6 model, which features the alloy blinkers and early R75 seat, as well as touring-size fuel tank with knee grips and white pin-striping. Clean Vermont title.Recent work includes: -- Bing carburetors and Karcoma petcocks cleaned and reassembled -- gas tank's interior restored to nice condition -- performed engine valve adjustment -- all oils changed and a new engine oil filter installed -- brand new spark plugs and battery -- new fuel lines and breather hoses -- front brake master cylinder and disk brake caliper rebuilt -- new stainless steel front brake hose -- new passenger/rear foot peg rubbers -- new BMW handlebar grips to be provided -- includes chrome rear luggage rack w/ padded backrest and front windshield (not pictured), if sold at asking priceThe bike is priced below market for its condition as it requires a few final touches to finish up a basic restoration. Both tires hold air but new tires and tubes are recommended. Some of the original electrical components and battery cables could be replaced due to age (or upgraded to more modern "aftermarket" components), though they currently work -- this is up to the future owner. Some surface rust on the original chrome pipes could be polished up, and other typical TLC may be desired. Offered for a short time this fall at only $3500. This particular bike would be re-listed in the springtime at an accordingly higher price after further restoration + upgrades over the winter. Serious inquiries only, please. Cash offers considered ONLY when made in person. Thank you.
