Jurij Subic exhibition opens on Wednesday in Athens

Slovenian painter Jurij Subic arrived in Athens on 5 December 1879 at the invitation of Heinrich Schliemann and architect Ernst Ziller in order to use his talent and ideas to decorate the Schliemann mansion, or "Iliou Melathron", in Athens, ANA reports. Homer, Pindar, Lucian, Hesiod,and Goethe inspired Subic, whose art helped shape the character of the building, concluding his work in October 1880. The Numismatic Museum, in Subic's honour, is inaugurating an exhibition of his work at 13:00 on Wednesday and it will run until 14 January 2019.
