Women and OSH: a conference in Brussels explores relations between working conditions and female cancer

The European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) organises a two-day conference to discuss the link between working environment and female cancer including the contribution by EU-OSHA on its findings and activities. The conference, taking place in Brussels on 4th and 5th of December, also looks into how women with cancer struggle with discrimination.Under-recognition of exposures of women to carcinogens at work and therefore potential under-recognition of their cancer risk are key issues discussed at the conference. Breast cancer is presented as the main cause of death by cancer among women in the EU, but women, like men, also suffer from many other types of cancer, such as lung cancer, intestinal cancer, etc. The event presents the views of many European speakers, including scientists, cancer patients and trade unionists fighting for better working condition.
