Greek island of Lesvos plans events to commemorate Saint Valentine

The Catholic community of Mytilene in Greece is organizing a series of events on February 13-14 to commemorate Saint Valentine, the patron saint of love, young people and happy marriages, whose holy relics lie at the Church of Metastasis of Virgin Mary, ANA reports.The events will be attended by the Archbishop of Naxos, Andros, Tinos, Mykonos and Metropolitan of Aegean Sea, Nikolaos Printesis, and the Apostolic Nuncio, Edward Joseph Adams. The celebrations will conclude with a procession with the relics of Saint Valentine along the streets of Mytilene on Wednesday afternoon.Apart from the Catholic Church, the municipality of Lesvos is also organizing  love song, love letter and love poem competitions, but also rides with horse-drawn carriages in the historic city center.
