Steeped in history dating back to 500 AD (think native American Indians and Indian mounds ) it extends 444 miles from Nashville to the Great Mississippi River at Natchez,Ms , the second oldest town in the US. Haunting, alluring, it traces the paths of our earliest settlers including the French, the Spanish,and the English as well as the likes of Daniel Boone, Merriweather Lewis and our first presidents. The parkway is a National Park and no commercial businesses,homes, or signs are allowed. Campgrounds, although rustic, are free. Get ready for a fall roadtrip - right in your own back yard !
